For the uninitiated, Lake Eyre is a salt lake in South Australia which covers around 10,000 square kilometres. I’ve had the privilege to visit Lake Eyre twice in a state of flood due to the generosity of Bob Backway, Commodore of the Lake Eyre Yacht Club . In 2001 we spent 5 days on his catamaran sailing around Lake Eyre South, camping on small islands . In 2004 we sailed 400kms down the flooded Warburton River between the Simpson & Tirari Deserts to Lake Eyre and back, starting from Kalamurina Cattle Station. We returned 11 days later.

Have a look at the Commercial section for a compile of Lake Eyre footage. Articles with photos appeared in The Age, The Austalian & Sydney Morning Herald Newspapers
